"United we stand"In a world that is constantly changing, insecurity abounds, hope is lost and people can find themselves tossed about, as in a violent storm out at sea. We need an anchor that holds us securely, Hebrews 6:18-19 says "So we who have found safety with him are greatly encouraged to hold firmly to the hope placed before us. We have this hope as an anchor for our lives." The number one anchor in our lives is God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - He never changes. He is the one stabilizing influence in our lives. So we come together in the unity of the Spirit: Encouraged to stand firm, for truth, love and justice. Where God has called us to be lights in this dark world. We stand together as the Church family seeking to be united with our Saviour, willing to share the gospel of hope to those around us, so that the world may believe God sent his Son.Wave 2008 is for the whole Church family - come as a church, in families or as individuals. Whether you have children or not, married, single, a single parent or grandparents. Come and join together with others to discover how being "united together in God" can change the way we live our lives in our communities. Why come to Wave 2008?Take the opportunity to worship together, relax together, create together, play together, learn together, laugh together, pray together. Don't just take our word for it, this is just one of the many comments we had following last years event - from a Church leader. "I want to say that your vision for Wave as being an all-age Christian HOLIDAY was something I grew to appreciate more and more during our time. For the first 2 days I was getting used to it NOT being Living Water – but I had a few moments where suddenly I got your vision. The first was one of the craft sessions when I was doing some craft with my son and I realised that Wave was reconnecting our fractured families. The second was when we were worshipping together and I realised that as a family we were sharing in worship – and a sense of what God was doing for each of us – in a new way, The third was when I was just enjoying the unhurried pace and time together as a family. I think the vision of an event which reunites the family and cuts across our society’s habit of chopping us up into age-groups and other small groups is really important once echoing much of the NT teaching about church. It is the "unity" within the Church family that will touch and affect the world in which we live. The scripture says that when they gathered together, and were of one heart and mind, that the Spirit came upon them, and as a result many were saved. The world gives us a model which is fractious and divisive, and is causing much pain. God gives us a model based on unity and loving one another - which is much more stable, an anchor in the midst of the storm. Wave 2008 offers the opportunity to take a rest for a moment in a harbour. After all Jesus did not come to take us out of the world, and although his kingdom is not of this world, He helps us live in the world. So, like coming up for a breath of fresh air, we can once again catch the vision of hope, of how it could be and leave being empowered to go back into our communities where those around will ask - "What must we do to be saved?". |
